Dublin Maker is back for another year of invention, exploration,
Dublin Maker takes the form of a “show and tell” experience where inventors/makers sourced through an open call, will have an opportunity to showcase their creations in a carnival atmosphere. It is a family friendly showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the maker movement.
Step into the woven history of Dublin’s Liberties with The Liberties Weavers. Our exhibit brings the area's rich textile heritage to life through handwoven pieces, historic artefacts, and live demonstrations. Discover the stories of local weavers, explore traditional techniques, and learn how this vibrant community group is reviving a centuries-old craft with a modern, sustainable twist. All ages welcome – come see, touch, and even try your hand at the loom!
We are Ghostbusters Ireland. We have recreated the bookshop Ray's Occult Books from the Ghostbusters movie franchise. We built the set, many of the props, as well as replica props from the movie as part of our cosplays.
We are running a repair café – a community gathering place where people can bring their broken items, such as appliances, clothing, bicycles, or electronics, to be repaired by skilled volunteers for free. The idea behind repair cafes is to promote sustainability and reduce waste by encouraging people to repair and reuse their belongings instead of throwing them away.
Be amazed by demonstrations of Archimedes’s Law of Forces shown through tug of war, Bernoulli’s Law for Fluid Flow with giant windbags, Faraday’s Law of Induction shown with a simple motor, a vortex blower, musical straws, windmills, rockets, and much, much more! Drop by and learn how to make many experiments for you to take home. We aim to entertain. Audience participation is essential!
Makermeet
MakerMeet was formed as a response to educators looking for practical skills in Maker education and project-based learning. We believe that we are all Makers and we are passionate about learning through making. The Constructionist approach to learning as set out by Seymour Papert underpins the student-centred, discovery-led S.T.E.A.M. workshops that we provide to the education, enterprise and private sectors. At MakerMeet, we believe all of us are born Makers. We have the ability to grasp things with our hands and minds, to rearrange the world around us to meet our needs and achieve our desires. We are makers of food, shelter and many other components of our lives. These basic skills are infrequently taught and valued in today’s society. We want to change that. The world around us does not just exist, it is made by us. We make it. Adam Savage (Mythbusters) sums it up nicely... “Humans do two things that make us unique from all other animals; we use tools and we tell stories and when you make something - you’re doing both at once.” Check out our workshops we are hosting over the weekend by visiting https://dublinmaker.ie/timetable/
Current Chemistry Investigators
Make your own batteries from common material that you can find around the house, and test out your battery by making a mini-torch! CCI is an informal education project about electrochemistry. The 2019 Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded for the discovery of the Lithium-Ion battery - a technology that has revolutionised our society! These batteries are now in our phones, cars, laptops and houses. However, they need many chemical elements from all over the world to store energy. Our modern society is facing into an energy crisis and we need to find more efficient ways to store and transport energy. Also, can we make batteries more sustainable and from cheaper alternatives?. CCI will show how chemistry and physics comes together to make and store the energy we need for our modern lives.
Creative Spark FabLab
Explore the exciting world of our FabLab! Discover how imagination and ideas turns into reality with our amazing tools like 3D printers, laser cutters, and more. Watch cool demonstrations, play with interactive projects, and learn how you can create your own inventions. Perfect for curious minds of all ages, Creative Spark FabLab exhibit is a hands-on adventure into the wonders of making. Join us for a fun-filled experience where creativity knows no limits!
Mechatrons are the leading providers of robots in industry, education, entertainment and special effects in Ireland. We create an incredible lineup of robots planned for Dublin Maker.
FAMILY-FRIENDLY EVENT
A community-run annual event that inspires visitors to engage with Makers about their interesting projects. Think technology, science, engineering, crafts and robotics.
Makermeet
Using special reusable Scru’s and child-friendly tools, participants can make a variety of different objects such as buildings, robots and more! At the end of the workshop, participants can take away their creations and reusable tools! (Workshop includes a reusable Makedo Starter Kit)

The Connective Detective - Build Your Own Smart City
Dive into the fascinating world of smart cities with our interactive workshop, "The Connective Detective - Build Your Own Smart City." This engaging, hands-on experience invites participants to explore the concept of smart cities in a fun and imaginative way. You will discover what makes a city 'smart,' what technologies are involved, and see some real-life examples. Then, using micro:bits and recycling materials, you'll get the opportunity to design and construct your very own smart city.
Makermeet
Attendees will draw and create artwork on a blank sheet of watercolour paper using a baking soda mixture and coloured pencils. They will then use a natural pH indicator to turn their artwork red and yellow to reveal their painting! (Allergy note: Tumeric is used)
Tog Hackerspace - Repair Cafe
Do you have broken items at-home – clothes, small appliances, toys, electronics? No need to throw them away! Save your things from the landfill and your wallet from having to replace them. Bring them to our repair café and learn how to fix them together with our volunteers. We have tools, materials, space to work on your item, and repair experts who will help you with your repair.
Makermeet
In this workshop, participants will create a circuit to light an LED in a card - all on paper! This is a fantastic project for participants to make cards that light up and introduces them to basic circuitry. Participants take away their Paper Circuit at the end of the workshop. The project is easy to recreate and very good for occasions, holidays and special days. (Workshop includes Paper Circuit)
Makermeet
Create your very own Spinner Toy or “Whirlygig” - a toy that was originally made before the industrial age. It has now been refound and is currently being used as a “Paperfuge” - or an extremely low cost device that can replicate a centrifuge. When you make the Whirlygig to take home, with practice, your toy will be able to spin up to 125,000rpm!
